Serving several communities including Memphis and Collierville, the Aging Commission of the Mid-South could help you obtain legal assistance, nutritional counseling, an electronic emergency response device, and more . . .
Services Provided by the Aging Commission of the Mid-South
Health Promotion & Disease Prevention: The commission’s physical fitness programs help older individuals maintain an active lifestyle so that they can live longer and healthier lives. The activities will help you improve your strength, flexibility, endurance, and more. There are also health assessment screenings followed by personalized recommendations.
Individual Counseling: If you’re in need of guidance and support, partake in the individual counseling service. This includes mental health counseling and could be helpful after the death of a loved one.
Legal Assistance: Do you need legal advice? Are you seeking representation, counseling, or another form of legal assistance? The commission’s helpful legal assistance service could be just the ticket. You can receive help from a paralegal or a law student under the supervision of an attorney.
Medical Equipment & Supplies: If you have a chronic health condition or are recovering from a significant surgery or illness, you might be interested in receiving supplies and medication. The commission’s Medical Equipment & Supplies program could be a great benefit to you.
Nutritional Education: Improving your health late in life can be difficult if you don’t know where to start. This program provides information and instruction to individual seniors as well as groups.
Nutritional Counseling: A similar service to Nutritional Education, Nutritional Counseling helps people adjust to a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise. This is especially beneficial if you’re trying to ensure that your new healthy lifestyle positively impacts a specific disease or condition that you have.
Personal Emergency Response (PERS): A personal emergency response (PERS) electronic device will provide you with peace of mind and mobility. If an emergency occurs, you can press the button on this portable device (which is connected to your phone) to contact a response center.
